Implements for 420C
I was at a tractor show the other day with my 420C and visiting with another gentleman with a 420C about what implements were originally used with the crawlers. Is there a list somewhere of implements that were originally used with them? I would like to get an implement to go with my crawler for some shows but also to play with. I know there are basic plows available but what other options are out there? I have a 3pt hitch on mine but I'm not sure what would be ideal for it to handle. Please let me know what thought you have along with model numbers. Thanks for all the help and insight. And please, no finish mower comments.... ugh.

Re: Implements for 420C
The most desirable implement for this crawler would be a model 810 3-14 plow, in my opinion. Deere made this plow just for the crawlers, but they're almost impossible to find. It has to be a 3 bottom plow, a 2 bottom doesn't have the correct offset. I've been looking for this plow for several years.

Re: Implements for 420C
Does anyone know how many 810 plows where made? I have one, but can’t imagine using it on 420 or 430. I haven’t tried plowing with it on either but carried it around on 430 and it sure knows it’s there. 1010 or 2010 no problem. I’d like to find a sub soiler for mine.

No production numbers on plows, so no way to tell.

Re: Implements for 420C
Thanks for the information! I don't know anything about plows but what is the difference in the offset between a 2 bottom from 3 bottom? Also, how could I identify an 810 plow? When I googled it there were images for 2,3,4, and more bottom plows that came up. Steve, could you send me some pictures of yours so I know what I'm looking for? And then the controversial question, what would a complete 810 be worth? I know it depends on how much I'm willing to spend but what range should I expect to pay for one if I could find one? Once again, I appreciate all the help and information! Thanks!!

Re: Implements for 420C
810 is a crawler specific 3PT, 3botom plow, that was it's only purpose, not designed to be on a tractor. Crawler can not run "in the furrow" so requires a different offset than a wheel tractor plow, and has a couple other differences, mainly du to clearance issues with the shorter 3PT on the crawlers.

Re: Implements for 420C
There are some YouTube videos of crawlers pulling plows. Some show them on firm ground with the plows offset, and others show them with a track in a furrow. I'd think that having the crawler on firm, reasonably level footing would be preferable so that the track wear would be reduced,

Yes, running a crawler in the furrow will destroy undercarriage in a very very short time. Crawlers should NEVER be run in the furrow, always on land.

Re: Implements for 420C
I've plowed using a 40C and 420C. If you use a trailer type plow it's not a big deal to set the hitch so the crawler is running on the furrow edge. Most trailer type plows I've seen have more than enough adjustment to work with a crawler. We're talking 1, 2 and maybe 3 bottom plows, depending on your ground. I've used mine a lot in wet ground that won't support a wheeled tractor at anytime other than the height of summer. Any trailed disc, harrow, drag, etc is a piece of cake. I tried running a few 3pt implements like a back blade on my 3pt hitch but the geometry seems to be off a bit and I haven't had a chance to figure that part out.

Here is a CL ad for an 810 plow. Not sure of $$, do your due diligence

Re: Implements for 420C
You would have to torch the front coulter bracket to get it to work on a crawler, even then, not sure.
