With few exceptions you won't find free on line Operator's and Service (Technical Manual in JD's current terms) manuals, especially for something as new a 555G. Send Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) an email and see if he has or can get those for you; his store provides this site for us to use so he deserves first shot at supplying such as this and might have a better price than the options. If he can't help; you can go to https://www.johndeeretechinfo.com/searc ... G&pattr=p0 and see the manuals JD offers for your machine. It looks like you need both technical manuals and the operator's manuals. There is a parts catalog there as well or you can use the on line one at https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/com.d ... andingPage.

Also your 555G posts should be made on the Late Models Board. This post will likely be moved over there.

The lowest drain is under the tank at the back of the machine. The fill is the same hole as the dipstick. You will need to clean the screen at the front of the tank. Probably good advice to get a book on the machine.

I don't have a 555 manual but I believe your transmission oil is shared with the steering clutches, so the oil in those will need to be changed as well. I am pretty sure you have a drain for each steering clutch housing as well as the transmission.

Real expensive hicky if you're wrong, I would get a manual first.

My 450E Operator's manual has all that info for the 450E. The compartments drain separately and they tell you where to make the initial fill of each compartment. I expect the 550G operator's manual has the same info for your machine. Spend the money and get the Operator's Manual as a starting point, technical manuals can come later. The current Operator's Manual part number shown on the John Deere site is OMT163973 and covers torque converter and direct drive system, some OMs only cover one or the other. The manual costs less than the oil you need and much less than an error may cost.

On the G series machine the transmission is a large tub that holds the transmission and steering clutches. One big common open cavity. Holds a lot of oil.

thanks Jason, this help a lot, so by pulling the plug at the rear of transmission next to weights, and the plugs at the bottom of the right and left clutch drives and letting the drain for a day of so, than refilling fluid back through dip stick tub. i have read that about 25 gallons of fluid to refill?
