Very nice job on truck!!
When you get the 440 done, I am sure it will be a definite show stopper!!
Good luck!!
Thanks.. ya.. the truck turned out great.. enjoy every minute I drive it. The 440 on the other hand is turning out to be just as nice.. too bad I want to use it on my farm. The very least, I'll know what I have even if I get it all scratched up..

Good morning!
Do you have any other items from your grampa’s service station?
Did you see my post on the skeleton I came across, that is one serial number out from the 440ic I have?
That was a pleasant shock! The guy that owns it, is quite the dealer-it has been sitting there for at least 15-20 years, without a part removed, but as soon as I started to ask about it, it was all of a sudden very valuable ! I haven’t told him about the serial number, other than saying it’s close, because the price would jump again!! Quite the find!

Still working on the picture thing, maybe this weekend I will figure it out.

Hi,

There was a time when I wanted a visible pump. Figured I would actually use it with Diesel. Then, I figured out that Restored in pump-speak meant Painted Pretty. Oh, well.

Some are just painted, but I took this one completely down, all metal parts are powder coated, all pipes inside have been replaced and painted( to get rid of any petroleum smell, ) glass cyl is repo, but best I have seen, all gaskets and seals are like new, so someone could put gas/diesel in it. I have it done in Imperial 3 star ( Canadian ) I have a bunch of old esso stuff also.
I hope to be able to put picture on here soon( along with 440ic)

Sorry, my great uncle's garage has been gone a very long time. He closed it when I was a kid. Then he sold the property and the station was boarded up before he sold it. It had been well picked over just before he closed it. It's too bad really. but such is progress.. I guess...

Been a long winter up here in the cold country.. snow didn't leave until near middle of May, Covid delayed parts ordered from Lavoy for at least 3 weeks extra... even with putting on the wrong frame rails and having to wait until snow melted to retrieve the right ones.. and the parts being delayed.. I still managed to get the 440 running and back on its tracks... I need to get new cylinders and hoses for the blade hydraulics and I'll be able to toy around the property with a basically new machine... funny.. I barely had it out for its maiden voyage around the driveway when a neighbor stopped by and asked if I wanted to sell it... fat chance of that happening.. unless he has a 450 to trade for it.. lol.. I'm hoping to put together a little vid of my resto and post here.. Think I'll call it.. "The Good.. The Bad.. and the Bloody .. for all the skinned knuckles

Hi,

Skinned knuckles? When working on a crawler? I have never heard of such a thing! These things come apart with easy ease! (if you use enough dynamite, that is!)

:P

Really great news, though. That the thing is back together. Not the knuckles. :)

After quite a few skinning encounters... I went out and bought a battery 3/4 drive Milwaukee impact... that sucker saved me... only bolts it would take off were the track frame to final ones... but only 4... the rest either came out .... it sure was a fun project... not without some creative language here n there... learned a lot about these machines.. and Lavoy was A1... we are lucky to have a source like him... certainly not minimizing everyone else who chimes in with great advise.. but Lavoy is the band leader...imho...

Well.. today was the big day. After tweaking the timing, the jets in the carb and setting the gov, I finally put the old girl to the test. Started with a small mound of crap that had been piling up behind the greenhouse. 2 passes later and it was in the alders which it pulled a few out as well while I pushed that pile in about 30 ft. Alrighty.. on to the next task, a pile of scrap wood left over from our house build.. something that has been an eye sore for a while but was too close to our storage shed to just spark a blaze. The ol 440 wasted no time chewing into the mess and after about 7 or 8 passes I had moved about 1/2 the pile into the field where we will have a nice bon fire.. at some point. I would of liked to keep going.. but unfortunately, I had to hurry off to my railroading job .. I'm not too worried.. I will get to have plenty of seat time in it.. cause afterall.. Rome wasn't built in a day.. and neither will the work I want to do on our property.... I am going to try to put a video of the build and running it at some point as I documented the build extensively with some video along with pictures.. Good luck with your projects.... it sure is sweet to complete them and get to do what they were designed to do...

hopefully the 2 links below to Facebook will let you see the pictures
