Bill,
Thanks for the quick reply. I was actually looking at how to adjust free play. My pedal is all the way at the bottom and it is supposed to be a new clutch. There is no adjustments on the pedal that I can find or on the clutch rod.

This past weekend I convereted over to a yoke style rod so far seems to work good not much room under there to work. I adjusted it so now I have about inch and a half to to inch of free play. Way better than before.
If I ever do a complete rebuild I will replace the clutch shaft and brake shaft since the previous owner liked to weld everything instead of fixing it.

Re: 440 ICD Clutch Adjustment
Hi,
Follow-on question to your Main Clutch Pedal Free-play adjustment:
Where is the adjustment turnbuckle located?
I have a 440 IC (Serial 453000, assuming early style with Turnbuckle based on parts manual)
but I cannot follow the linkage from pedal to bellhousing.
Nothing of the linkage runs externally, linkage must be internal.
Looks like linkage runs thru Reverser housing.
Do I have to remove reverser cover to access Clutch Pedal Free-play adjustment?
Thanks for any replies

Re: 440 ICD Clutch Adjustment
Linkage rod with adjustment is external, never was an internal adjustment. If you have a very late crawler, then the adjustment is on the arm where it goes in the top of the clutch housing.

Thanks for your replies.
I will roll-up my sleeves and look again for external adjustment of that clutch-pedal free-play.
Pedal is right up to the top with no free-play, so adjustment is needed.
FYI: Adjusted steering clutches-brakes and now drives MUCH better
Also updated my profile as you requested... .hope I was successful

Re: 440 ICD Clutch Adjustment
We have folks all over the place and you could just as easily have someone nearby that can physically be there to help walk thru processes, which is why suggestion to have location info...also parts for machine.
keep at it..are really easy to work on , but sometimes hard to break loose and understand what procedure is actually telling you to do., until you physically go thru it, why sometimes need do repeatedly.

Re: 440 ICD Clutch Adjustment
Hi dtoots1,
Yep.... once you are successful at the procedure, it's obvious what to do. It's the 1st-timer that's the hard-nut to crack.
Thanks for your help.
I found the rod tucked under the reverser housing after I crawled underneath and looked for the linkage.
Adjustment has been made, no issues with loosening the jam-nuts.
Got some free-play in the pedal now.
Can operate without worry about riding the throw-out bearing constantly.
Best regards
