JD Crawler Meet
JD Crawler Meet
How do you folks feel about doing a uniquely JD Crawler meet? I'm guessing somewhere in the middle of the country would work best but thought I'd throw it out for discussion. I think it would be a hoot. I know there are a bunch of tractor shows but something about a Deere crawler meet just seems right.

Bill,
We have joked on here many times that when we hit a certain number of registered users, that particular user had to host a party, like the 500th, 600th or whatever. Obviously that was a joke, but a meeting would still be fun. One possibility would be to meet at one of the shows, like the Two Cylinder Expo or something like that.

Well imagine my surprise when I come in from the shop to discover that Lavoy is having everybody over to a party at my house. Oddly enough, I'm way OK with the idea. At the rate we're adding members, it should be just about time for the 1010CA project to be ready to show.
I've got the space for a modest size gathering and I'm game if you guys want to do it. It could be the first ever JD Crawler party and swap meet. I'm sure I could get the guys from Berco to sponsor the event if we want to do something fancy and I know they'd get a kick doing a tour for the group if that sounds interesting. I can guarantee you'll never see more crawler undercarriage in your life.
It's up to you.

Hi,
Are you talking about the Berco guys bringing U/C stuff to the meet, or the meet heading over the Berco? The comment about lots of U/C parts makes me think we go there. That'd be fun.
I don't know if you'd want my dirty old machine anywhere near your shiny new one, though!

Berco is about a half hour from my place so we'd go over there. As to the sponsorship thing, they might or might not want to do anything with the event but you never know. They might be good for a keg and some promotional stuff and take the opportunity to talk to folks on the collector side although they're huge and very busy with new machines and supporting the manufacturing facilities for Hitachi and Deere. I think they told me they were shipping 70 undercarriages a day to the Deere plants.
The Berco guys are actually some pretty good folks and I keep in touch with them but we're a drop in the ocean when it comes to what they're doing. When I was over there last year, they had single rails for one of the big excavators that easily weighed 5 times what my entire crawler weighs. Big place.
