You can def. get that old girl up and going. I will take $, sweat, blood, and some cussing.
Before you do anything, pressure test the cooling system, drop the oil pan, and inspect the wet sleeves. AKA make sure the wet sleeves are not leaking around the bottom "packings/orings" into the crank case.

Thanks again for the replies. There is a plastic bag over the exhaust. We only get 9 inches or less a year.
My first car was a VW Bug. I bought a book, "How to keep your Volkswagen alive" and was able to rebuild the car so it was running and ready to drive when I was 16. So I'm ok with mechanics but I am best when I have directions to follow. Is there a manual or a Chilton's guide or anything with exploded views for this old dozer?

I can probably get you the manuals you need. Parts and service are the best to have, followed by an operators manual.
