Neutral Safety Switch (450C)
Neutral Safety Switch (450C)
Can’t find a part number and I’m sure other applications use the same connector but the connector is missing and has been “straight wired” and readily starts in gear. I’d like to enable this safety for obvious reasons.
Part number for the switch is AT14407. My best description of the terminals on the switch are the head of two nails, very similar to the starter button connector.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
You are correct the neutral safety connector and the stater button connector are the same. Unfortunately I don’t have a source!

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
The connector is part of a harness in the parts book, not just a connector with pigtail. You could try asking your JD Dealer if they have just a pigtail for a repair. I think the connector was used on a number of harnesses, but they only show the harness numbers ($), same as for your 450C. Brillman has some short harnesses for less than JD and might have just a connector pigtail. You should send Lavoy an email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com), he might have one or a number and source for them. I have managed to get female spade terminals to go on those switch posts as temporary patches. Many auto switches used those terminals on switches, but often singles. You might be able to get something for connectors at your local auto parts store.
Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
I was at my JD Ag dealer today and decided to see if I could get just the switch end connector. Here are the parts the parts manager pulled up to repair the end on a 2030 Neutral Switch Harness, switch end. They are likely the same parts you need to repair your harness end.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
Hopefully they are the same. My 450E isn't home right now so I couldn't look at it. Hopefully Ken will report back on this and if those parts worked for his, it may help others keep safety switches working in the future rather than have to buy $25 to $100 harnesses just because of a bad connector.
Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
Took it out, here is the NSSthe threaded end is 9/16"-18, 1 1/8" hex
Switch is bad, that's why previous owner had it bypassed. Still would like to find the right connector.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
Sorry the terminals were different on the safety switches. When you said "the terminals on the switch are the head of two nails", this is what I pictured, which is what a 2030 uses.
Sometimes I have been able to use the common male bullet connectors in the switches like the one in your picture, in the past. The connectors should be available at most any parts store. .156" and .180" are common diameters for the bullets. You can try those. You might be able to get something, short of the full harness, from your JD Construction dealer, as I did from my Ag dealer.
I happened to think (and checked a MF 165 parts book) the Massey Ferguson Neutral start switches have terminals like yours. They used the bullet connectors (factory was non insulated bullet soldered to the wire) with a rubber boot (MF # 180776M1) over the terminal head of the switch. The wires show as individual ends in the MF parts book, not a molded connector.

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Pigtail (450C)
My apologies, when I first found the switch (under the LH floor plate) it was covered in thick crud and I "assumed " it was like the starter switch.
