420C Rubber Tracks?
420C Rubber Tracks?
I'm intrigued. Just came across this. Any ideas what these tracks came off of?

Lavoy-- do the rubber tracks fit on the stock sprocket and idler for the 420C
1957 420C four roll since 1982
Re: 420C Rubber Tracks?
No, sprocket has to be re-rimmed with the Mitsubishi rim, rockguards will likely have to be cut off shorter in height, and will only work on 5 roller crawler. Right now, in the $5000 range to do it, not including machining.

Kinda quiet around here!
That price tag on rubber tracks wiped out my interest!

Yeah, tracks jumped by $1000 last year.

Re: 420C Rubber Tracks?
We are looking to do the same thing with our crawler but was wondering what width of rubber tracks are available for the BD2 that you mentioned above. I have seen 20" and 12" but the crawler has 14" on it now and would like to stay with 14". Also, about now much needs to be taken off of the rock guard or do they just need to be taken off. Also, if you have proven track can you let us know where you got them from?
Re: 420C Rubber Tracks?
I put new tracks on my U35 Kubota excavator last year. Cost just under $2000 delivered. I measured them to see if the old ones might to used.
Not exactly a good measure but my 420 5 roller: taped front to back OA 94" and 26" dirt to top. Excavator: OA front to back 76" and 16" tall. Might be able to get on a 3-4 roller but pitch is also considerably less.

BD2G-2 - Size: 300x71x74 Is the size that you are using with the Mitsubishi BD-2 Rim machined on the old sprocket.
Re: 420C Rubber Tracks?
Always thought this was a cool idea and I never had a crawler until just recently. Looks like the 440 I have is 36 links and this 420 is 35.
How much shorter would these tracks be than a 440? Ir looks like there is enough room to bring the front idler back to accommodate..
The undercarriage on my 440 is pretty shot. Going to need a rebuild and I figured I would go this route so I can take it in parades and use it around the neighborhood.

Re: 420C Rubber Tracks?
There is a set that will work on the 440, figure about $4000 for the conversion.

Lavoy,
Do you have a part number for the tracks? Is it the same Mitsubishi weld on sprocket rims?
Thanks in advance for the info!

Can't find it, but it is 74 at the end instead of 72.
