440 gas reverser jinkage

Post by Jake Collie » Wed Jul 23, 2025 11:02 am

Good morning all. I recently purchased a 440 IC gas and there was no reverser lever so I assumed it didn't have one Looking at it today, next to the clutch pedal is a roughly 3/4" round shaft with a flat end on it and a hole in the flat part. Could that be part of the reverser and I am just missing the rest of the linkage?

Welcome to the Boards.

Not much linkage involved. The handle was outside the cowl on the left (sounds like that is missing). The shaft goes across the machine has a short lever on it, a rod down to another lever than into the reverser. My guess is someone took the handle off as there is a problem with the reverser.

If you don't have the manuals for your 440IC, contact Lavoy and he likely has, or can get you, the manuals for the machine through his store.

Very common to have the reverser removed, and the shifter cover still on. You need to verify that the internals are there before putting linkage on it.
