Blade control valve 450c
Blade control valve 450c
First time owner of a dozer and learning parts as much as I can. I am rebuilding the joystick and have a couple leaks on the spools(?) On the valve. Is this a different job to rebuild or should I carry it to a hydraulic shop. I just don't like leaks.
Re: Blade control valve 450c
Welcome to the Boards.
There is an O-ring at each end of the spools and some on the relief valve and fittings. I think the O-rings on the spools should be able to be changed without removing the valve. Do you have the 450C technical manual? Do you have a parts Catalog or use the one online. Those will allow you to see what there is for sealing parts. I would advise not disassembling the relief valve unless you can see it is leaking. If you do tear it apart you will need to check/set the hydraulic pressure after it is assembled.

Re: Blade control valve 450c
Jim thanks for the reply. I'm a one week owner, took a shot and it runs good and works good. Needs a little tlc.
I used it for about 7hrs learning how to use it. The blade works in all 6 ways. One cylinder leaks and 2 spools on top are leaking. I have no manuals or catalogs but will search here afterwards.
Also looking through this forum for information. I've got a big learning curve a head of me.

Here is a link to the 450C Bulldozer online parts catalog.

I do not know if any free downloads of the TM 1102 the 450C Technical (service) Manual. I expect you will need to purchase that one. Lavoy may have it available in his store if you check with him. You may find a good pre-owned original John Deere one on eBay. I will post info on getting a free download of the Operator's Manual, later or in the morning. Lavoy may also be able to supply hard copies of the parts catalog and Operator's Manual.
The Operator's manual.
Use this link to go to the JD construction and forestry bookstore.

You can type 450C in the Model search box and see all the 450C media they offer (it is not all for the bulldozer so read the descriptions). Or you can type OMT71338 in the center search box and click the search icon and it will bring up the bulldozer operator's manual. Click the yellow download button and it will download a free copy of the manual to your device. You can save it to your computer and print from it as you wish. Operator manuals are free downloads, Hard or USB/CD copies are purchases as are all the other manuals.
