350c dozer dealer manual hours

Post by rcbiggert12 » Tue Nov 04, 2025 9:16 am

I have a 350c jd dozer that needs work, i believe on the reverser. The dealer said 3 days ago, 25 hours to pull engine and reverser. Now he called and said the manual (not sure of its name) says its 22hours for the engine and 20 hours for the reverser.

This seems totally off as I have done some work on my dozer like replacement of tracks, sprockets and so forth. I dont have a lift therefore taking it to a dealer. As I cant find a mechanic in the area. (Port Clinton, Ohio)

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,
Chuck

Chuck,

Well I would have that dealer verify what those hours for each unit are for. They aren't overhauling the motor they're only supposed to pull it. I personally can't believe they need 22 hours to pull a 350 motor. The reverser is tougher to do so depending on the individual machine, 20 hours to pull it may not be that far off.

That being said, they may be taking into consideration that their tech has never worked on a 350 before. For us who have pulled two or three hundred of those motors, it doesn't take anywhere near 22 hours. I've pulled 350C motors in less than six hours before. But I know every short cut and every tool needed and I had a shop with an over head crane to use as a lift.

I would look at renting a lift of some sort or a tractor with a loader that you can use as a lift. If you don't have a tech manual for your machine then get one and go by it. Otherwise I'm not sure what to suggest. It just depends on your ability and your ability to find a suitable lift.

Maybe some of these other guys will have a better suggestion for you. Good luck!!

Thank You Leonard,

I am picking it up from the dealers and attempting to do it myself. I have a Kubota bx 25 tractor with a frontend loader and hopefully it can lift the engine high enough. Any chance you know an approximate weight of the engine?

They will weigh roughly 400 to 500 pounds as a unit. What I mean by that is when you pull it, it will come out with the radiator, hydraulic pump and muffler still on it and you can leave the oil and coolant in them as well. Strip some of that off and you can get them down to 400 pretty easily.
