Deere European crawlers and wheel tractors

Post by jdemaris » Sat Jan 10, 2009 11:13 am

Looking for information on the various engines John Deere used in European tractors. I know Deere used Perkins diesels in many wheel tractors. I'm wondering about the older crawlers, e.g. M, 40, 420, 430, 440, 1010, 350, 450, etc.

I've seen several photos of M or 40 type Deere crawlers in France with small diesels. Some look like they might be Hanamog diesels like the Massey Harris Pony had. When Deere sold the 1010 crawler overseas - it was under the Deere-Lanz name-tag. I don't know if it used the US engine or not. Also, with the later 350s and 450s, I'm wondering if they were the same US type 152 and 202 engines, but built in Saran France with Rotodiesel injection?

The only one I know of that deviated from US specs is the 440 Lanz diesel. It used a 3 cylinder Perkins.
