I got off work a little early yesterday and in the daylight I could see crankshaft fan belt pulley is cast with notches around the circumference. A large screwdriver really didn't fit very well so I cut a short piece of 1/2" about a foot long and bent one end a few degrees. Fits perfectly!
Is this another clue this might be a 2010 engine? I tried to measure the displacement but did work out as planned. I did find the turbulence chambers have different part #'s from the 1010 to the 2010. After cleaning as much as I could all I found was stamped on the front edge of each was either "AH" or the A could have been a triangle. I couldn't find anything in the parts book which indicates this. So I'm still stuck. I thought about removing the turbulence chamber but the service book says to drain the cooling system so they must be in the water jacket. I didn't want ot go there yet...
I think I will call it the mystery machine!

Maybe Deere offered "UCK's"??? User Configurable Kits. Pick from a list of engines transmissions, undercarriages, implements, etc with the appropriate adaptors... Walla! You have a one of a kind tractor!
Ok back to reality... Does anyone have a good set of fuel lines for the late 1010 or 2010? Mine are usable but pretty beat up. I would try to straighten them out but afraid they might crack.

It's a pump for a combine
I don't believe the horsepower story, things don't work that way. That pump is for a Deere 45 combine with an HA-165D motor - same size as used in 2010s - not 1010s. Puttig a 2010 pump onto a 1010 motor does not make it run like a 2010. 1010 is 144 cubic inches and the 2010 and 45 combine is 165 cubic inches.Jason Z in MO wrote: . They called Spencer Diesel who actually does the rebuilds and he was told installing the 2DH on a 1010 would give 10-12 more HP.
Somebody just stuck a combine motor into it - very commonly done with 1010s and 2010s because there are some many combine motors still around. That pump number shows it to be a 2010 sized motor from a 45 combine. I know of several 1010 dozers that got the same transplant. Makes a real pusher out of them, but I doubt the finals and trans can take that extra power for very long.Jason Z in MO wrote:

John,
Didn't make since to me either. Why not just turn up the existing pump?? I'm sure your right about an ag transplant. The rotor head has green paint on it. The top cap has yellow. Bastardized for sure. The previous owner said he ran it about 1/2 throttle most of the time.
Does it make sense to turn the pump down to get something between a 1010 and 2010 to reduce the strain on the drive train? You always hear about someone turning up the pump for more power. Will reducing the fuel cause the power and torque curve drop way off?
I noticed I left a word out of my description above. I cut a 1/2" REBAR to make a lever to rotate the engine.
