turning pins and bushing??
440 IC BROKEN LINKS
Lavoy....I had two links on my 440 crawler break yesterday. Have you been able to locate track links, pins and bushings for these treads and how much will they cost me? If I pound out the old pins and bushings, is there any problem with my re-using them with new track links? Is it just a matter of heating with a torch and pounding to get them out? Do I have to worry about getting anything too hot when I heat them (probably a dumb question, but just wanted to be sure I wouldn't mess anything up).

Only links would be used, nothing new unless Deere has some pieces left. Last I know, they were over $100 per half.
I am still working on pins and bushings, preliminary work is done, now just haggling on price and some small details.
If you are going to take an individual link out of the middle of the track, it is easier to torch the old pin, and put the track back together with drive master pins. As long as you don't heat the link so hot that it distorts or you bend it, you will be fine.

Maybe I'm confused but I just priced out pins and bushings online through Deere and found that pins are $14.75 and bushings are $13.99. No price available on the master pin. So for one side of my four roller 420C I would be looking at $433.69 for the bushings, $442.50 for the pins. If a guy could do them himself that doesn't seem bad compared to the cost of tractor or skidder tires.
How doable is pinning and bushing a track without any special machines in my shop?

Do you have the master pins and if so, what is the cost? Do you have the used links and if not, when can you get them and at what cost?Lavoy wrote:Only links would be used, nothing new unless Deere has some pieces left. Last I know, they were over $100 per half.

Lavoy, thanks for the information.
Send me the price for a 2 sets, one set for each track. I rolled mine out and did a quick check a couple of months ago and they are 100% + worn, I figure if I am doing all the other work on the crawler I need to re-pin and bush the rails.
Thanks again. Dan

Lavoy, Okay. I can wait as it looks like another winter of fighting heavy snow again.Lavoy wrote:Dan,
I don't have firm pricing yet, and the freight bill is also a large unknown. Production was just the first stage, the rest starts when they are done.

We have had 24+" of snow since last Thursday.
Thanks again.
