1010 crawler not running
Hi.still having a hard time .Bought a new carb did'nt help, gave it a comprssion test and i have one cylinder coming in low.any advice?
How much lower is the compression on that one cylinder in comparison to the others? Even with one cylinder leaking, I would think the engine would try to fire with the remaining three cylinders, assuming everything else is working.
If you think the timing is off, you can rotate the distributor slightly each way while you are starting or get it started to see if it makes a difference. I would first mark where the distibutor is set right now so you can put it back if that doesn't help.

It sounds more like an ignition/ timing problem to me. Just to be sure, the float bowl in the carb is full each time you have pulled it off right?
I actually had a similar problem with an IH 300 tractor and it was actually a little dirt right at the needle valve in the float bowl. It let the bowl fill and the tractor would start but die because it wasn't getting fed enough.

If you disconnect the fuel line at the carb do you get plenty of fuel flowing through it?
That's the last fuel thing that would be a problem otherwise sounds like it's not firing at the right point and you will need to go through the timing and ignition.
The ignition module may have gone bad. The original set up works fine on the machines, they don't need anything fancy and they are easier to trouble shoot. You may even still see a spark at the plug but it may not have the voltage you need to fire the fuel.
Any chance the timing was knocked off? is it triggered with a magnet?
