Find an old Volkswagen Beetle 1800 cc air cooled engine and mount it right on the mower deck. I think they are 45 hp +-, light, self contained, and you could use your clam hydraulics to run a clutch or tilt the engine to engage belts. It might not be a thing of beauty but, you could get the job done.

Both those ideas are solid. Thing is finding one in useable/cheap condition. The part that I cant believe is that with all the crafty go-getters here, it seems nobody has upgraded pumps? With high flow and 3pt hitch you could run a mower and my next desire....a post pounder.
