350 B brake band

Post by timmtnman » Fri May 11, 2018 5:45 pm

Getting ready to start tearing it apart to replace broke brake band. Does anyone have a video or any tips on how to make this easy. First time doing this and any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Hardest parts are (a) finding and driving out the master pin and (b) holding up the weight of the final drive while rotating it at the same time. It is worthwhile making up the hoop they show in the manual.

Service manual procedure is about the best description, read through it a few times to familiarize yourself with it, but keep the manual handy while disassembling.

Thanks, been reading the book and studying the dozer too. Will the final have to come all the way out just to replace band or can I slide it out far enough just to replace the band.

Either way you will need to support the final. Best bet is to just remove it. You should be looking at clutches and pinion seal as long as the final is off.

Got it torn down today and I think it looks pretty good in my opinion except for brake band being broke. Would post pics to get the experts opinions but can't figure out how to post them.

After inspecting everything I noticed 1 of the return clips was on and one had fell off and one is missing. Deere doesn't have them available anymore. How important are these and does anyone have some extra ones available.
