1010 exchange

Post by Wilbur » Thu Aug 15, 2024 10:09 am

Will the engine from a 1010 industrial rubber tired yellow tractor fit my 1010 crawler exactly?

I believe the base engines will interchange, there may be differences in the engine accessories. You can go to JDparts.com and bring up the parts catalogs for the tractor and your crawler and compare components.

Thanks Jim B! Been after main bearing for the 1010 for over a year with no luck. Can't believe John Deere abandoned their equipment.

Hi,

Deere does better than any other company I know of when it comes to parts availability. Most other things wind up unobtainium at 10 years as the normal mode of operation. But there has to be a time limit at some point.

The 1010 dates back to 1960, is of a design not repeated with subsequent models (such as the 1020 which is totally different) and had a fairly short production time. Especially that engine.

From what I have read in postings here, the water pump is unique to the crawler.

Water pump is different, also possibly manifold.
