Injection Pump Removal

Post by nrowles » Fri Aug 16, 2024 12:10 pm

Apparently, even though I was careful, I've torn the umbrella seals when reinstalling the injection pump. I now am getting fuel in the oil. If I'm simply pulling the pump off to put new umbrella seals on the shaft do I have to take the time to set the timing? What is the point of that if the shaft and pump are "keyed" and I'm just sliding it off and back on?

As long as you do not turn the engine or the pump you should be able to slide it back, replace the seals, then slide the pump back into place.
