555 low transmision preasure

Post by tizfatboy » Thu Jun 26, 2008 7:26 pm

After an hour of working temp of oil is 190 preasure drops to 20 lbs, my understanding this is caused by oil passing threw the seal behind the torque converter. This return runs threw the cooler and seems to have a minimal affect on overall preformance. I was left with the impression this could be ajusted up with the presure releif valve. Any thoughts

You would have a better chance of the oil bypassing through the multiplate clutch seal and as the seal sits on a magnesieum housing on most of the origonal shift housings form Deere I only replaced 1 torque converter but some seals in my 550s and I would hate to count the clutch housings and clutch packs I replaced .Watch your guage and if you see better pressure in some gears than others .It is probably the power shift seal in that specific clutch pack if it is constant it may be the T/C shaft seal .Digitup .

Preasure stays the same threw all gears, 20 lbs after warm up.
