350B Clutch?

Post by Uncle » Mon Oct 03, 2005 3:18 pm

I got the steering clutches to release but the machine still does not pull.
It moves forward some but not at all in reverse. There is a loud squeeling racket when you try to go backwards.
It does have the reverser so my question is; Do I need a new clutch and if so, what do I need to watch for when installing it.

A reverser crawler has no clutch. You have some sort of problem with your reverser, I would quit trying it and diagnose the problem before it becomes a serious expensive problem. It may be something as simple as low system pressure. If so, continually trying to move it will burn up the clutch discs, and lead to more serious problems and more money.

I have also been told that the rings on the clutch pack piston will wear into the hub and cause it to shift slowly although that does not sound like the problem here.
