Height of fingers on clutch plate for 440

Hi everyone,

I am looking for the dimensions off of the gauge for setting the clutch fingers on a 440 IC gas. This is a total project as we got the dozer literally in boxes as the previous owner took it apart twelve years ago and then died before getting it back together and we got a chance to get it from his son last year. It came with another earlier model parts dozer with no motor or tracks and of course we have found out that there are quite a few differences in the transmission and other parts but we are making out Ok. We have two good clutch packs but one set of fingers is set about 3/8 of an inch difference than the other so we are not sure which one is right. I have just ordered a service manual from Brad Kahler but we would like to put the final drives together as soon as possible.

Lavoy we will probably purchase a gauge if you have one available but if I purchase the gauge can you send me the measurements so we can go ahead and get it together? It is not hard to make a jig for setting the fingers as long as we have the measurements.

By the way the site is great and has already been a wealth of info.

yes Lavoy I was talking to you yesterday. Thank you for your help. Will try and post some pics as we get a little ways along. Will have to read up on how that is done first though.
