Hello,
I am new to the crawler world, but am taking over repairs for my father on his 420 crawler loader. S/N 130498 I think. The first number is dented on the tag but looks like it used to be a one. This would make it a 1958 model. It is a 5 roller with a 4 speed. My father claims that he was driving forward when the battery worked loose and hit the reverser lever and the machine locked up tight. He took it all apart and told me it was in need of some shafts as they appeared worn out. He didn't mention anything that was sheared off or anything so............ Any help in locating parts or a whole new reverser would be great. Thanks
Dan

You need to get into the reverser to find out exactly what is needed. There are some expensive parts in there, no need to buy them if you don't need them.

It looks like most of the shafts in the reverser assembly are worn out where they were in conact with bearings....... I suppose they are the expenive parts of the reverser....

They can be. If it is the face of the two small gears, sometimes you can polish them with a Scothbrite pad in a die grinder.
