wiring question 350D

Post by skeetertom » Wed Mar 16, 2011 5:33 pm

1988 350D, 2 wiring questions
1) i found a wire from the alternator running forward near radiator but not connected, looked cut, but I see no other wires up front.
2) I have no lights but power thru switch and breaker, is there a common place that gives problems?
thanks for the help last night radiator is out and being fixed, ordered new hoses and belt today. Could not believe how much sand and crud was wedged under oil pan, looked like an achaeological dig today.
thanks for any help
Tom

All of the wiring on a 350D is in a wiring harness. If theire is a single wire from the alternator going foreward, it is something that has been added.

Was the tractor a former rental that maybe had a remote hour meter or some other device?

I would just ignore and remove it.

The wiring going forward from the alternator would be for the two lights contained in the hard nose.

Well mystery solved it was the horn wire which goes to nowhere as the horn was removed.
