Track adjuster

Post by Paul45 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 6:18 am

I have a 350 dozer with manual track adjusters. The right side adjuster is stripped and i cannot tighten track.
I was thinking of buying 1.5-12 threaded rod and new nuts and making my own.
has anyone done this? Does any see why this would not work?
I would love to replace with new ones but money is tight right now.

Thanks for your input paul
thanks Paul

I have the same problem on my 1010. The threads are rusted away and the nut doesnt turn without slipping. I replaced the nut (have to take out the adjuster) and wire brushed the rust out of what was left of the threads. That let me at least adjust the track a bit. Then I cut a peice of angle iron exactly long enough to prevent the nut from backing off. It's getting me by right now, but I would like to replace with a hydraulic aduster instead.

Thanks for your reply Dustin, I have bought a threaded rod and new nuts from MSC and i plan on replaceing both soon. I used my porta power to tighten track and put a piece of steel to keep it tight till i get to fixing it. I would like to put in new adjusters also but too much money. I can list part numbers if any one would like them. Costed me about $75 for the rod and nuts enough to do both sides.
thanks Paul
