Did the MC come originally with that type of track pad and 2 hydraulic cylinders to operate the blade? Greg

No the blade is not original. I believe it is of a 40 or later. The owner I bought the tractor from bought it with no blade. He got the blade at a auction and put it on after the fact. It has not been on there long.

The tracks I have no idea. I know one thing someone has definitely been in the finals before. Seeing as it is a pieces now. I have some more picks I will post up. I am curious to know.

The blade is a #62 from a later crawler like 420 or 430.
MC's after 19,000 something came with that style pad.

Here is the track train and pad. I am new to this, but have been told there in good shape pins and bushings are in the near future.

A neighbor from down the road stopped by to look at this dozer, apparently he had a couple similar and currently has a 1010. He has been a nice help!

Got the finals off

With the final drives broken down I found this. Looks like the clutch had some bolts that were to Long at some point or something. Ground out the final case. Definitely been that way for a while. Should I bother with it?

What happens is the pinion bearings go out, and people keep running the crawler. I have welded some like that, and left many more alone. On an MC, probalby not a big deal unless it is beginning to perforate.

I see that make sense.

I saw somewhere on here measurements for the steering clutch disks, but can't find them now. I have mine all dissembled and am trying to figure out at what measurement they should be replaced. My Rh clutch looks like it saw some water once, little rusty. Metal Plates measure new and clutch discs measure just below the new measurement callout in my manual. Only problem the crawler ever gave me is I think I slipped the Rh clutch once, so I want to give it the proper attention while apart. I was pushing brush and caught a little stump I the center of the blade. The Lh track spun and the Rh let out a little growl and did not spin. Assuming it was the clutch slipping.

Is there a measurement for replacement?

Going to have get my welding skill sharpend up! The milling that the clutch did at some point in this crawlers life is cracked along the lower part of the goudge. This should be fun...atleast I have nothing to loose it is cracked already. Hopefully the crack already being there will help relieve some of the stresses.

Think I may have to preheat this one on the grill for a while.

They do tend to draw a lot when you weld them, that is a lot of bead. Preheat a bunch with a big propane torch, or set it on some charcoal, whatever you can to put a lot of heat into prior to welding.

Hi, Yellow, That is a really nice looking MC. A lot better than my recent 40C purchase. I'm commenting because Lavoy mentions your dozer blade is probably a 62 from a 420. It appears similar to the one on my 40C, but they did a real butcher job on the hydraulic system.

Butcher job is a understatement. Its a 50-50 job looks good at fifty feet or fifty MPH. It is purely functional, and to protect my craftsmanship, bought that way.

I will have to post up my finished project. the finals are completely done and installed and she is crawling again.
