Want to ID year of manufacture of 1010 crawler

Post by grappleloader » Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:01 pm

I recently purchased a 1010 trackloader and would like to find out what year it was made. I found a plate on the front of the hydraulic control console and wondered if this would be enough info. It has a serial no.7481 and a model no. 810. Looking at a service manual for early and late models these numbers do not seem correct. Could you please help me out to know if these are the correct for the ID or should I look another place for the proper numbers. Thank you

that is the loader frame numbers look on the right side of the engine just in front of the oil filter there is a small square there that had? or has a plate (on 2010s the later ones they moved the plate to the bell housing above the starter i dont know if that is true on 1010)if not then its look for parts changes by ser. number and you can get some what close

1010s started with serial # 10,001 in 1960. Machine serial number is on the engine block with any I know of - on a metal ID plate. 810 is the model of the loader that's on your 1010. If the tag is missing from the engine, you can narrow down the age by changes over the years. E.g., the trans shifter is in the dashboard up to serial # 21,900. After that, it's on top of the trans. So, if the shifter is in the dash - it's a model made 1060 to the middle of 1961. If it has an oil bath air-cleaner it's earlier then serial # 42,001 (late 1963), etc. Many changes that you can look into.

As John mentioned, it is not nearly as important for parts replacement to know what year of manufacture is as much as understanding the serial number range based on the parts changes.

Using two or three parts differentiators and the parts manual, you should be able to narrow down the serial number range to make sure that you are buying the correct parts. of course it is best to actual find the part number on the old part you are replacing to be sure. :D
