Soooo I'm looking at my crawler tracks where it sat for the last 15 years. Where the pads were in the dirt they have actually come loose from the chain. the carriage bolts are welded to the pads but rusted badly so I don't think i can tighten them without 'em braking.
Has anyone made pads? it looks like I could fab up something from some flat stock, maybe add some rubber pads for my "round-the-yard-crawler"
Does this sound like something anyone has tried? more work than its worth?

Did you ever end up making pads?
Ive been pondering making some as well. I work at a specialy steel distributor place and I can get 4x8 sheets of carbon for next to nothing (less then scrap value). I was thinking of taking them over to a guy i know with a metal shear to make the "main" part, then I wasnt sure what to use for rubber to bolt on the main part.
