440 reverser

Post by Howard Yoder » Thu Oct 18, 2012 6:19 pm

My reverser went into reverse with about 10 pds. of pressure and went into foward with about 15 to 20. It seems that when I ajusted it it was either going to be a light 25pds or the next notch was close to 40 pds. I left them at close to 40 pds. the book recomends 25 to 35. Just curious if I should leave it where I have it or move it back a notch. Also does anybody have any good tips on getting all the hydrullic fluid out to change it.

Thanks

Howard,
Normally not that drastic a change for one detent. Is there some binding in the linkage or anything like that?

no everything seems to work all right just don't want to do any damage or being to light and letting it slip I think it will be all right just where they where not getting a good snap. I think this is where a lot of reversers get ruined by not taking the truoble to ajust them till they go bad. I think I will run it for a while and see what happens,

Check all the pivot points and pins for wear. I know in the past I had one that did not want to shift, and just reparing and adjusting on the linkage fixed the problem.
