350C value?

Post by Jag30 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 7:01 pm

Looking for some ideas of what a 1977 350C with blade, backhoe, 32" pads, 5000 hrs is worth? Everything is tight . Tracks wore and a few pads bent. It runs, steers, forward and reverse very well.

If it has a backhoe does it have a Dozer blade or a loader? Most hoes I have seen have loaders on the front.

Hi Jag-

First of all, like any piece of machinery or vehicles there are a number of factors independent of the crawler condition and model that set value such as demand for crawlers in your locale. Thus any values we state are approximate.

In my area (Midwest) there is fair availability of crawlers. The 350Cs I have seen in my area have gone anywhere from $3K upwards for parts machines, from $5K upwards for working machine at auction, to $10K upwards from a dealer.

The hoe and hoe brackets will add value and the dozer/hoe combination seems to be less common; usually hoes are paired with a loader. The loader bucket acts as a front counterweight to the hoe; I would imagine that especially on slopes that a dozer/hoe combo is very tippy rearward.

Again these are generalizations from what I have seen in my area. Condition really drives value for a particular machine.
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment

350C Widepad with Hoe

Post by JWB Contracting » Mon Oct 22, 2012 1:09 pm

If it was in my yard, with a hoe and decent working condition, i would be looking to get $15K out of it. I sold a 350B loader with a small case hoe this spring for $12.5 for comparision.

I currently have a premium 350C widepad that will be listed on Kijji in the near future with a price of $15K for the crawler alone. With the small ditch witch hoe the price will rise to $17.5K. Not a broken bolt in it and a rebuilt reverser. I've been having to pay around $5K for a broken down 350C for rebuilding. I also have a few interested in my dad working 350C widepads equipment with angle dozer and 9550 hoes for $25K.

In Alberta, there is too much of that dirty oil sands and oilfield money, which keeps the prices up. Good if your selling, bad if your buying.

It all depends on the condition of the crawler and the type of hoe attachment.

Check both crossmemebers and frame sections for welding and cracks on the crawler. Also, you need to look for internal wear on the track rails. They can appear excellent externally but be completely worn internally. These widepads are very hard on undercarriage. Also, the outboard axles and sprocket drives are obsolete and good used ones are hard to come by and very expensive. We de-converted a 350BW this summer just to get these drives. I am guessing, I will get between $1,500 to $2,000 for them each if we decide to sell them.

Backhoe - check to see how loose the mount is between the crawler. Also, a premium can be paid for a 9550 hoe attachment. If its a 9550, the value of the hoe and attachment braket should be in the $5-7.5K range. If its a 9300 hoe, it way to heavy for the crawler. Also, count on removing the hoe anytime you want to do some dozing work.

A 9300 hoe is just the right size for a 450G. I did about 4 hours of digging with ours this weekend and what a machine. The previous owner converted the 9300 to swiwng cylinders instead of a swing box, you can really move the crawler around with this hoe, very impressive. I should have taken some pictures. I was on the 450G dozer, trenching and my dad was behind on a 350C widepad backfilling and digging the muskeg sections.

Get some pictures and post them and we could give you some specifics.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I went back today after work to look it over again and get some pics but the gentleman sold it just after lunch.
