2010 ignition switch-bad
tryin to figure out what switch to use,, was a diesel-now has a gas engine,, anyone know if the gas ignition switch would work alright? and maybe a suggestion on where to get one.. thanx
Re: 2010 ignition switch-bad
I think the main difference between the gas and diesel ignition switches on the 2010 is the diesel can be turned to the left to energize the glow plugs.Tractorman wrote:tryin to figure out what switch to use,, was a diesel-now has a gas engine,, anyone know if the gas ignition switch would work alright? and maybe a suggestion on where to get one.. thanx

switch
right,, that's what i was thinking,,, I noticed someone has installed a good lookn 3 position toggle switch,, looks heavy duty,, think i may just use it for the coil.. later thanx
Not exactly true
That is NOT true if hooked up in original fashion. 2010 gas used a special ignition switch with a built-in ignition resistor and a built-in resistor bypass system. A conventional ignition switch has neither of those features.jtrichard wrote:any universal inj./key switch from a parts store {ie NAPA} will work
To use a conventional battery-ignition switch with the OEM Deere coil, you'd have to wire in an external resistor and then find a way to have a crank-only resistor bypass IF using the original Deere 6 volt type coil. If a new generic switch is used along with a new high-ohm coil - then no resistor or bypass is needed.
One further note. If the engine has a Delco starter -the solenoid had a crank-only bypass that can wired into. If it has a Prestolite, there is none.
I stand corrected i went looking at switch pics and JD is correct the original switch did have a resistor on the back of it... that switch is on ebay for $36 or like he said you can put a resistor on it and run a HOT START wire from the start solenoid to the coil side of the resistor if it has delco type starter
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
