Inside the track blade vs outside the track blade

Post by yellow is good » Wed Oct 31, 2012 2:17 pm

My crawler has a inside the track mounted blade from a more modern crawler like a 40c I think. It still has the hydraulic lift parts on the tracks for I think a outside the track blade. So my question is what are the disadvantages or advantages to either setup?

If your going to use it then the blade you have on the dozer is much stronger if you just want to show and have fun then the 1000 tool bar with the blade is really neat if you can find one it can also be turned around and implements put on the back the mc and early 40 could have had either blade

So the 1000 tool bar? That is the assembly that is u shaped and goes from the track mount around the front to the other mount.

To use it on the back it is simply reversed?

The blade you have is a #62 blade which was never designed for use on an MC or 3 roller 40, and even in the owners manual for the blade is not really recommended for 4 roller crawlers either, it is just too heavy with too much lift capacity.
The benefit to the blade you have in regards to the blade itself is it angles and tilts. The one benefit I have heard from some people on an outside blade is it tends to keep branches from getting in the tracks if you work in the woods alot.
As Howard mentioned the "blade" you show in the pis is not actually a dozer assembly. It is a tool carrier that can be used on either the front or the rear of the crawler with various attachments. In the pic it is shown with the MC100 bulldozer attachment installed.

There is a MC on Ebay, up for auction. Says rebuilt. I don't know details. It has the tool carrier. It has about 6 days left and I saw it today.(11/2/12) I thought some of you migt want to take a look or maybe buy. Greg
