What is the # that is stamped on the engine block just below the hydrolic pump? This is in referenc to a 420 I just got and thought it might be a date coad?
Thanks Ron

Engine serial number is recorded at the factory and does indeed relate to chassis serial number. Unfortunately, none of us can see that info, so only possible way is to contact your local dealer and see if they will contact their local Deere rep and see if he will get you a duplicate tag.

It is normally a slow process, and sometimes you will get a jerk rep that will say it can not be done, which is a lie. The tag will not look at all like original, bu it is genuine, and issued by Deere. What I would do is keep the replacement tag somewhere safe and have a repro tag made with the same serial number.

Wair can I get a blank tag?Stiner has them but not for the Dubuque tractors
I know that it is a hot topic in reguards to Fraudulent #s and I am in no way willing to throw a number on it and call it good If Deere cant find it I will leave it with out one.
I would like to hear what you guys think about this topic?

Trans case number does no good.
There is a company in IA that makes pretty good Dubuque tags, but can't remember their name.
I agree, I would never make up a number, but in the case of a duplicate tag, you will have a Deere certified tag with the right number, and you can lock it away for proof.

Is there an engine block number on the 440ic that can be cross referenced to find the serial number? Thanks, Roger

That was my plan B but the block has been replaced their isn't a number stamped in it and it has the oil fill cast in the right side but no hole drilled in it for the fill cap so Im assuming its a universal block from Deere?
Some where on the web I came across a list of 40 block numbers and dates of manufacture. Dose anyone have a list for the 420?I have two other engines.
Thanks Ron
