no I have no idea what those 2 holes are for in the seat.

the reason it would not start is I had someone else put the motor together ( I didn't have the time with the baby being born) and the oil pump was installed 180 degrees from how it should be. so in order to set the timing everything is a 180 from how it should be.

well status update, finally got my main clutch issues worked out, pulled the old girl out of the shop on sat and to my disappointment had one steering clutch froze up and the other was way out of adjustment. so I got all that fixed and if that wasn't bad enough discovered a massive oil leak out the back of the motor. so after a panicked call to Lavoy he said probably the cam plug and he was right. so I ordered a new one to find out that it doesn't fit. this dozer is for sure gonna be the death of me. maybe this sat I will get to push some dirt.

I feel for you 57jd.
It seems like you never get the bugs worked out. I got mine finished, then the water pump went out. Once I started running it, I found out the throttle needed new friction washers.
Spent a half day redoing the water temp. gauge to find out it still doesn't work.
Went to adjust my right steering clutch, to find oil in the steering clutch housing. Apparently the new seals didn't quite do their job.
Pretty frustrating I'll tell ya.

I forgot about that pin.
It was very difficult but I put a small socket between the u-joint and fuel tank. I put the socket so the pin could come out through the center of the socket.
I took a little while because there wasn't much room to get a good solid hit on the pin.
I came apart easy probably because I had it apart not long ago when I painted everything.

I had to take the whole instrument panel loose, and the fuel tank loose in order to get that throttle cylinder out of the instrument panel.

vtjoe,
the pin that goes through the throttle lever I drove it out with a small punch. the second pin comes right out once the pressure of the spring is off. after you remove the throttle lever you'll have a friction disc then the dash, another friction disc and a thrust washer, a spring and alignment washer and then the second pin. both are the same size, 5/32 roll pin I believe. getting the old one out the first time was a bugger. for reassembly once everything is on the throttle shaft and you're ready to put it through the dash, I put a c clamp on the end of the throttle rod where the bracket bolts to the motor to compress that spring. works pretty slick. I can take a pic of it sat and post it if I confused you.

i opened up the cam plug put it all back together and wel....l tearing it back apart again. when the motor was assembled i dont think the rear cam bushing is in far enough. so i will be tearing into that now. guess the dirt piles will have to wait.

the video was shot during our first test run, we still had a down pressure issue that we got fixed by adjusting the linkage on the control valve. works as it should now. :D
