1010 rebuild costs

Post by ktheaker » Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:15 pm

well i have the front grille and nose removed - i am sending the rad ouyt for a pressure test and possible recore or rod it out , i thought i best ask what a rebuild kit is worth and the sleeve and pistons - i do not know of their condition or crank needs but it smokes alot and i can hear some light knocking so i suspected i best know the costs involved . it would be nice if i just had to remove the ridge and do some ring work and polish the crank but i best get the low down on the kit and sleeve - it would be delivered in a box in NY and i run across to pick up . i did call my dealer a while back and he scared me off so lets see what Lavoy can offer me up and see if i can help him out with the purchase . thanks and im going in

You will need to check your rods and the wrist pins for slop. #1 cause for a knock in a engine. Be a shame to tear it down and put it back together with out investing a bit more to get it right.

Don't know the breakdown, that was a kit price from one of my vendors a while back. Would take some digging to get individual prices, probably a larger variance nowadays between gas and diesel.
