Interesting, 4 roller tracks, 4 bolt rails and top rollers.
No trees were hurt in the creation of this message.
But, many electrons were terribly bothered.

If you blow the pic up, you can see the torch marks on the trackframe and rockguard, but took me a while to see it.

Man I thought my rails and stuff were bad. That one picture of the front idler makes it look like the pads, rails and everything are shot.

Either side, if you look close you can see where the front roller used to be, and where it looks like 4" or so of the side of the trackframe has been cut off.

Clutch housing

Post by JWB Contracting » Sun Jan 13, 2013 6:59 pm

Also notice that the right hand clutch housing has been installed backwards. You would only do this if the frame mounting flange was damaged.

Looks like a parts machine, although not many good parts left.

Lavoy should buy it, raffle it off to a member and then wait for the parts order to come in!!

While the steering clutch housing could have been reversed due to
damage it most likely was replaced with JD's last stock of that casting.
Mother Deere tapped holes on both sides so that one part could be
used on either side. Not ideal for the restoration guys but at least you
could get a new one at the dealer.Luck JimAnderson

Good to know

Post by JWB Contracting » Sun Jan 13, 2013 8:13 pm

I didn't know that they came with the adjuster hole (barrel bung plug hole) on both sides.

You don't see them often.A few years back I bought a 430c that had
one.The 420-430 parts manual shows only one part number for that
casting and if you look closely at the illustration in that manual you
can just make out the second barrel bung.
Shortened track frames, replaced steering clutch housing, busted
front idler and thats just what is visible. That old girl was rode hard
and put up wet many times.Unless someone wants it for parts or
lawn art they better have deep pockets.JMHO! Luck,JimAnderson

In later years, the replacement housing was universal, got two on the 440 in the shop right now. All in all, that is what they probably should have done from day one.

Well it went to somebody for $1825 plus shipping. They may be a new member for Lavoy soon if not already.

And I have been waiting for your truck to arrive and load up these three 440ICs around here and the 64 blade over in the weeds. That would almost be a truckload I believe. I only have a little over $6K in everything. I sold the extra 2-53 engine I had a couple years ago to one of the members here. My sister keeps hinting at a nursing home but I have too much mess on my 66 acres for her to clean up.
