Ok...
It is piled higher.
Now to fix my 8A winch and use it as a rope tow to get people to the top!

Joyous snow pushing.

That would be great, on day number 6 so far, starting to run out of gas. Then to top it off, local machine shop turned one of the large dozer castings into 3 smaller ones, woohoo!

Had some days like that for sure!
Has been a little quiet in my shop the last few days.
I have a couple wheel tractors lining up for the next time slot though.
Tomorrow is a new week.
Endless possibilities.

Snowing like crazy here now, I know it is just because my crawler isn't ready! High winds coming later today, should be white out conditions in a few hours. Not that I will notice, stuck in the shop again, but should be ready to pull the engine by tonight, start removing it in the morning, starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel :) .

Was 12 deg here this AM. Is now 38 and raining.
I would gladly trade it for some more snow!
Happy wrenching.

We've gotten one good snow a couple months back. Right now the snow line is about 500' above me.

I did drive up to look at it.....

Looks like an enjoyable ride!
Has been years since I've been in the mountains.
Tomorrow when this all freezes it may take a dozer to open the road back to camp :D
2' of snow + 1/2" of rain then chill.

Lots of snow up this way! spent all day moving snow around my yard and retrieving my jeep and dump trailer that got snowed in during a snow fall we had a 2 weeks ago. the jeep was snowed in up to the doors and completly drifted in underneath. And of course the 420 is at my cabin with no engine in it so I use my old hough loader.

best bucketful of snow all year I think.

That is quite a load!
Lost most all the snow here yesterday with a lot of rain.
Had a flash freeze over night and tons of lake effect snow today.
Some drifts are 3' deep.
Dozer time :D !!

JD440IC plowing snow? Hey, I've got one of those...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Guv4Q7Kv4IE

Pretty basic video; I shot it myself by sticking my phone to a rock with some snow. You can't tell from the camera angle, but I've got the blade angled to discharge left. When the snowpiles get big enough, you can see the front end of the machine is forced to the right because of the blade angle.

This machine is brand-new to me. It was running, barely, when it arrived. So far I've done nothing but clean out the entire fuel system, overhaul the carb, and change the engine oil. Still looking forward to tearing into the starter and cables (it cranks real slow on a brand-new battery), the generator (it's not charging), ignition timing, valve adjustment, some new grease fittings...

AND, some attention to the clutches and brakes. Note in the video that it squeaks whenever I brake the right track. Something's wrong on the right side. I've popped the covers, and not liking what I see on the right. The right lever travels a long long way before the throwout bearing contacts the fingers. Compared to the left (which seems to work normally as far as I can tell) the fingers on the right are a LOT farther away from the bearing. Kind of like they're stuck down (but the clutch doesn't slip). Also, I can see some of the brake band when I look down to the bottom of the right housing, like it's slipped inboard. However, on both sides, the clutches clutch and the brakes brake, and it transmits power just fine to both tracks as you can see in the video. Not sure what's going on with that right side.
Best regards,
Steve O.

SUCCESS!!!!!!! :D Finally got my dozer blade parts this morning, so had the old girl out pushing snow for half an hour after I got everything put together. I think it really did it some good to get out and work hard and get warmed up, really cleaned up the exhaust by the time I was done. Also idled and ran a lot better, but guessing now I had some air in the system, and it appears to have worked it's way out.
I ran it back in the shop to put the snow wings and skid shoes on the dozer, going out for another run tomorrow. Of course this just means that winter will end early now that I have a crawler mostly ready to go. :x

Such is life.
I have pushed snow 3 days this week.
Still snowing but warming up.
Soon heading out to the woods to bring home some fire wood.
Ground is not very solid. Most of the frost is out from the snow cover.

Finally, after 3 weeks of non-stop wrenching, some snow is getting moved. We had to push another crawler in the shop to start on, so my son wanted to go and play in the snow some.
Of course, now that I have a crawler ready to go, the forecast is for mid 20's and up, and no snow predicted, figured that would happen. :)
