There is a 420 on CRAIGSLIST in Leyden,NY. It has 3 rollers p/track and a single lift cylinder for the blade. It doesn't have the pressed steel pads. They are the newer type. Does this sound like a 420 or is it an MC or 40C with newer style pads? I thought the 3 roller machines were only MC. gregjo1948

I noticed that listing on Craigslist too. I would of thought that it was a 40C.

I am guessing it is a 3 roller 40.

I didn't know if they made a 3 roller 40C. That would explain the newer pads. Thanks, gregjo1948

Dash would indicate MC.

Definitely an MC.
Lots of MC's had their pads changed at some time in their life. Also, very late MC's came from the factory with late style pads.

This machine is on EBAY now also! I suggested to the seller that it might be an MC and I'm wondering if he will reply as to why he thinks it's a 420. gregjo1948

Maybe we are all wrong, he says he replaced the water pump on the eBay listing. Maybe it's a 420 with a MC undercarriage. Who knows!

If you blow up the pic, you can see the lower hose is smaller, so it has a 420 engine. Trans, dash, undercarriage and such are definitely MC.

The owner replied back to me and said the engine is a 420 but doesn't know, after I suggested it might be a MC, what the machine is. Don't the MCs have a tag on the dash stating the model? gregjo1948

No gussets on the final drive housings, and shifter/trans cover looks different than my late 40c.
