440icd track adjusting

I think on a 440 loader it will have hydraulic adjusters. Right behind your front idler, there is a special grease fitting that you pump grease into to push the idler ahead, tightning the track. You need a special tip for your grease gun to utilize the fitting on the adjuster. I think you can remove that fitting and install a regular fitting to do the adjusting. gregjo1948

greg is correct.
However you may have the non-hydraulic adjuster. This means you have a large nut and stuff that you have to get loose and crank to adjust.

440 icd track adjusting

Ben-- I thought the threaded shaft adjusters were on the 4 roller machines and if it's a loader, it probably is a 5 roller. I MIGHT BE WRONG! gregjo1948

Hyd adjusters were an option, mechanical were standard.
No 4 roller 440's.

Thanks Lavoy-- Didn't know there weren't any 4 roller 440's. I talked to guy today that said he has a 4 roller 1010, and it has the mechanical tensioners. Didn't know they made 4 roller 1010's and that they still used the threaded tensioners on the 1010's. I guess I had a good day: I learned stuff. :o gregjo1948

I under stand that Deere ended the 4 roller track frame with the 430 model and I would like to see pictures of later models that are 4 roller for my research. I cant imagine Deere having the option of down grading their track frame for their industrials?

look at 1010 parts book shows some had 4 roller and no upper idler and track was 32 link... 36 link on 5 roller model.... 350 also used both 4 and 5 roller as per parts book also it appears the 4 roller did not have upper idler and was 32 link and 36 link

It was threaded. It had a cover over the spring in the back that I couldn't get off so I didn't kno if it was hydro or not

Will the threaded adjuster off a 1010 work on a 440 with hydraulic adjusters? gregjo1948
