440ICD loader converting to dozer

Post by Paul Koski » Wed Mar 20, 2013 8:38 am

Hi all,

Can anyone see a problem with taking the loader off of a 440 diesel and installing a dozer blade and tracks in its place. I think the blade is a 63 manual 6 way. Tracks have dozer pads and grousers.
Also any problems with putting a hydraulic cylinder on the blade for tilting it.

Thanks,

It should work as long as you have all the mounting pieces aand the control for the blade.

440 converting to dozer

I put a cylinder on my 1010c blade which I believe is the same as you're refering to. I mounted it vertically on the righthand side and ran a diagonal brace over and down to the left side. I didn't put any protection around it but, if I were to be in the woods alot, I would put something in front of it to block brush or limbs from getting to it. Good luck!gregjo1948

you may need to restrict the hydraulics a bit as you use the bigger pump so you get smoother action, not a problem thou.

Same blade with a lot of slop in the arms which extend for angling the blade.
Would this be a problem with the pins or worn out rectangular bars that slide inside another rectangular tube. Could they be shimmed to take out the slop?
After thinking about the sloppiness of the blade, I came to realize that the pins are probably worn as well as the slide that the blade pivots in.
Thanks for your input.

You should be ok with the hydraulics.
I'm running a loader pump on mine and they don't seem jerky at all.
My return line is only 1/2" though I believe. It could probably stand to be bigger.
