61 1010 loader

Post by tcason66 » Mon May 06, 2013 7:05 am

I am new to crawlers and was never givin a lesson on how to use one so here are some questions I have.
Why does the stearing work fine when I'm at a low RPM on a flat surface but poorly at a higher RPM on even a slight grade?

Also my break pedal works poorly if at all, could the machine be in need of adjustment? If so how difficult is it to do?

How often should I change the fluids and grease the machine?

you kinda answered your own question "BRAKES" it takes less brake at low rpm ...i assume you mean down hill? it would take more brake to turn going down grade and at higher RPMs you can try adjusting and cross your fingers :) and if that works go to a casino :D :D

You can find answers to all your questions, plus good detailed pictures in the John Deere 440 Tractor Service Manual, which covers the wheel tractor and the crawler. Or even the Operator's Manual for the crawler might be worthwhile for you. It is not as detailed as the Service Manual but will get you started. Do not buy the I&T brand manual. Gil
