40C final drive housing

On my 1955 40c, I have two different final drives, the left side is a M3687 and the right side is a M2361T. Which is the original one and what is the other off of? Also, are all of the gears/parts interchangeable?

3687 is a 420 final drive case, internal parts will interchange. Late 420 uses a different gear set.
