Help identify - no serial number

Post by DcrockerinMaine » Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:34 am

I picked up this machine yesterday. The seller had it listed as a 1964 1010, but there is no serial number tag so I can't be sure. The gear shift is on the dash so I think that would make it an early year. What else can I check to narrow it down?

Also, does anyone know which winch model this is?

I've had a couple 1010s and yours looks like a 1010. Mine have had the shifting lever straight up out of the tranny and the reverser lever on the left side of the dash. Lavoy will know what you have. I don't know what the winch is but, I do know it's not a gearmatic 8A or 8G. gregjo1948

Early dash shift 1010, tag would be on the RH side of the engine block by the generator, winch looks like a #10 Deere I think.

Thanks Lavoy,

I cleaned up the crud on the right side and found the tag. Serial number is 10726, which I believe makes it a '61.

There is a pivot on the back of the dash halfway up, the shift lever pivots on this, and then there is a ball and socket affair on the the shift cover. Kind of hard to explain without a pic.

I'm guessing there must be some sort of a rod/shaft from the pivot to the ball/socket. I've got to get a look at one of these contraptions. Sounds like something more to mess up. Thanks for the info Lavoy. gregjo1948
