Inherited 420 Crawler

This 420C affectionately named Archie after my wife's grandfather, its original owner, has been in my wifes family since it was new. Unfortunately her father passed away
a couple of years back and it was passed on to her. Needless to say I'm the one that wants to keep it in the house but thats not going to happen.

Recently we moved it up to our 2nd property where I have been using it to pull out trees in preparation for building next year.
BTW I'm trying to find out more about the winch (e.g. model, weight, capacity) so if anyone can help with it would be much appreciated.

Winch is a gearmatic 8a. Weight is around 1,000 lb with a full drum of cable. If I get a chance I will dig out my brochure on it later for more info. Nice looking 420 btw.

Nice looking crawler. I thought the pads looked wider than mine and noticed 4 bolt tracks. Do you know what they are off of?

Andrew, thanks much for the insight and I'd definitely appreciate a copy of the brochure if you can swing it. As for the weight I was figuring maybe 400 to 500 lb but I can see it being 1000lb as well. Really kind of hard to guess. I do know based on a couple of trips across the scales that the total weight as you see it is 7130lb. Based on 4700lb spec for the bare crawler it leaves 2430lb to split between the winch and the blade. If the winch is 1000lb, the blade being about 1400 makes more sense to me than my original estimate based on a 500lb winch.

Thanks Gus. I can't tell you much of anything about the pads I'm afraid. Are you suggesting they aren't stock or just comparing with what you have. I've got a lot to learn about this machine so open to whatever you or anyone has to offer about it. I do know that it spent a lot of its early life in northern Ontario pulling trees out of the bush in the winter so might have been geared for that environment where wider pads would be a definite advantage.

probably off of a 1010 ....i think i have seen on here that the rail size is the same on 420 and 1010

Tracks off of a 1010 or early 2010 were my guess as well since they have 4 bolt grousers.
