Stuck dowels on 831 loader / 1010 Crawler

Post by 430deere » Tue Oct 08, 2013 4:07 pm

I am trying to remove the 831 loader from my 1010C, to make the steering clutch job a bit easier. I am down to the dowel on the rear left side (not the very rear, but on the side) The one on the right hand side came out without much trouble. Does anyone have any tricks to removing these? I am following a JD Service Bulletin that describes how to remove the loader, as the Operator's and Service manuals do not show this.

I am also checking out the master pin, and it almost looks to me like someone has "tack-welded" the backside of each pin to the track. Any thoughts on removal? Simply grind off the welds and carry on? Does not look like there's a snap ring on it at all.

Any help would be great!

Sorry - think it's an 810 loader.

II would grind off only the master pin if it is welded and replace it. The rest are so loose they chose to weld 'em in.

You might try oiling up the pin on the right hand side and replacing it. Then while it holds its share of the weight, try to remove the left hand side. Gil
