1010 crawler loader oil question - reverser, transmission

Post by Jim DiDomenico » Thu Oct 10, 2013 5:07 am

I was going through my oil levels and the reverser is down a bit. What should I use? The guy I bought the machine from said I should use hydraulic fluid for all. Is this true?

HyGard is Deere's replacement for 303. JD 303 was originally specified, if you can find it but HyGard is the Deere specification now.

FYI, there are also a number of universal tractor fluids that supposedly meet the 303 spec and would be fine for the loader system on a crawler, but opinions vary on its long term use in Deere transmissions and reversers.

On my 2010 I use a universal fluid for the loader reservoir but HyGard for the HLR transmision, just as added insurance given that HLR tranmissions are not cheap to fix.
