marvel shebler carb float adjustment level

Post by theshanmand1! » Sun Nov 03, 2013 6:51 pm

helloo,

I am new to this forum, thank you for having me.

I purchased a 1958 phase 3 420 crawler from a gentleman for $2,800 this summer.
it is a 4 roller four speed. holt fixed blade and a holt winch. brush guard, sprocket guards, and 14" snow tracks that someone welded plates over the holes.

I am in the middle of a mild restow, to have it be reliable for pushing snow at my cabin in Idaho.
i am rebuilding the carb & I was hoping that Levoy would be able to shed some light on the carb float level adjustment setting. the instructions from steiner are not very clear, it say's to adjust the float level so that it hangs a 1/4" from the gasket, is that when you are holding it upside down? if so, then the needle only moves a hair out of the seat. not even a 1/16" of an inch. also how do i post a pic of my poppin jonny. thank you in advance for your help.

Float adjust

Post by btilghman » Mon Nov 04, 2013 8:11 am

I've always done it with the carb right side up, and never worried too much if it was exactly a 1/4" inch, and generally err on the side of a bit more. Most of the time when you put a new float in its pretty close; the idea is to get the valve to close before the bowl gets too full or overflows. Ben

Hi: You might find these links helpful. One's a manual, the other is a nice video. Paul
