Leaking 440 hydraulic cylinders

Just looking for a ballpark figure here. What kinda price am I looking at to rebuild some leaking hydr cylinders on a 440? I'd be doing the work myself so no labor costs, just parts.

Really depends on the cylinder, but $50-$75 each.

Greatly appreciated. I'm working a trade on a 440. Seems to be in good shape but the cylinders leak pretty bad. Right side steering needs adjusted too. But other than that, it seems pretty solid. Its a gas. Got a 3 pt and pto shaft. Will that winch we been talking about of yours require taking the 3 pt off to mount and use? Also, even though it's not the right section, since we're on the topic, what's the price on that canopy you have?

Timber you seem pretty mechanically inclined, but just be careful of the "steering clutch needs adjusted," that can be pretty broad from leaking seals and clutches soaked in oil to brake lining shot, etc. etc.

Hmmm. Steering clutches need adjustment. My Seller to Buyer Dictionary translates that to: Steering clutches need a complete overhaul(!)

I know exactly what your saying. Good advice. I kinda try to figure things like that myself. If I expect the worst then I'm prepared no matter what. Plus as a bonus, if it turns out to be less then that's just an awesome surprise. It's the lil things in life,lol. Wife says I'm pessimistic; I like to think I'm just prepared and practical.

I call it being realistic.

A realist will always (a) look like a pessimist to an optimist and (b) look like an optimist to a pessimist.

My thoughts exactly.

Good luck with the 440. I've found their not overly complex to work on, just plan on taking a lot of things off to get to one thing haha, and have deep pockets.

I'm really hoping deal goes thru on the 440. My dad wants to take the 40 off my hands to keep at his place for driveway maintenance and small hobby stuff if it does. In my eyes it's prob better suited for that life than working in the woods. It would be a best case, win-win, situation. But if the guy drags his feet too long with 440 or I can't find another suitable replacement, the 40 will have to go to work for a while. Gotta keep the bills paid and bellies full. Fingers crossed.
