40c rollers

Post by fundytides » Fri Nov 29, 2013 11:58 am

Just checking the rollers on my 40c 4 roller. I notice that 5 out of the 8 have blind ends with no place for a grease fitting. However there is a plug in the center of the roller itself, I assume for lubrication. From what I can see in my parts books, these rollers are not original to any of the 40c or M crawlers. Would they be aftermarket or off a later crawler like a 420?

Just an update. These rollers are approx 1" less diameter than the correct ones. Probably not a good setup when they are mixed on one side. Amazing what people do to keep an old rig running! Can't quite make out the part number yet but looks too long for a JD part number

4 roller 40 takes same roller as 420, 430, 440 and 1010, someone has put something from another brand crawler on there.
I have new aftermarket sealed lifetime rollers on hand if you need rollers.

Thanks Lavoy. I might order when I am in Florida after the new year. Freight is cheaper and easier than having them shipped here to Canada

Most likely, cross border freight is a rip off.
