Hydraulic Question

Post by Zweibache » Wed Dec 11, 2013 3:30 pm

My 1953 40C has a small rod originating from the hydraulic cylinder and is parallel to the hydraulic shaft. The small shaft can be secured by two disks which surround the main shaft.

How does this work? Does the small shafts attachment somehow limit the downward force of the blade allowing it to scrape rather than dig?

Thank you for your help.

That is the depth stop rod. You set the two discs at a given position on the cylinder rod so that the cylinder retracts to exactly the same position each time. Really of no use on a dozer, but on towed implements is allows you to set the depth of tillage.
